Fuse board upgrade, EV-ready
An ageing plastic board was the only thing standing between this home and an EV charger. We upgraded it and left it ready for the charger to follow.
The owners came to us for an EV charger, but the survey flagged the real first job: a tired 1980s plastic board with a single trip protecting the whole house. We explained plainly why it had to come first and gave one fixed price covering the board, the remedial bonding work and the future charger circuit.
The replacement is a modern metal-clad unit with an RCBO on every circuit, so a fault on one no longer takes out the entire home. We added Type 2 surge protection for the family’s electronics and upgraded the main protective bonding to current standards.
Crucially, we left labelled spare ways so the EV charger — and solar, when they’re ready — can be added cleanly without touching the board again. Power was back on the same day, every circuit tested and certified.
