Home EV charging
Home EV charger installation, done properly
A smart 7kW charger, fitted by OZEV-authorised electricians with a tidy cable route, proper fault protection and the paperwork handled — so you wake up to a full battery every morning.
What's included
- Supply and installation of a smart 7kW charger from a brand we trust
- Up to 10m of neatly clipped or concealed cable from your consumer unit
- Dedicated RCBO and open-PEN fault protection to BS 7671 (18th Edition)
- Load management via a CT clamp so the charger never overloads your supply
- App setup, smart-tariff scheduling and a full handover walkthrough
- Electrical Installation Certificate and DNO notification
Charging at home is the single biggest reason owning an EV is easier — and cheaper — than running a petrol car. On an overnight smart tariff you can fill the battery for a fraction of public-charger prices, without ever queuing at a forecourt.
The install matters more than the charger. We take the time to plan a cable route that looks deliberate rather than improvised, fit proper isolation and fault protection, and make sure the whole circuit is designed for the real-world load of your home.
What we install
We fit smart 7kW chargers — tethered or untethered — from manufacturers with a genuine warranty and a reliable app. Every installation includes a dedicated circuit with its own RCBO, open-PEN fault detection to meet BS 7671 Section 722, and surge protection where appropriate.
Load management as standard
Older homes often have an 60–80A main fuse already working hard. Rather than push you toward an expensive supply upgrade, we fit a current-transformer (CT) clamp so the charger continuously monitors household demand and reduces its draw when the oven, shower and kettle are all on at once. You get reliable overnight charging without nuisance trips.
The paperwork, handled
You’ll receive your Electrical Installation Certificate, and we notify your Distribution Network Operator on your behalf. If you live in a flat or rented home, we’ll check your eligibility for the OZEV EV chargepoint grant and submit the claim so the discount comes straight off your price.
How the install works

- 04
Commissioning & handover
We set up the app and smart charging, issue your certificate and notify your network operator.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need off-street parking?
Yes — the charger has to serve your own driveway, garage or allocated space. Running a cable across a public pavement isn't permitted, so we can't charge from the street.
Should I get a 7kW or 22kW charger?
Almost every home has a single-phase supply, which tops out at 7kW — more than enough to fully charge overnight. 22kW needs a three-phase supply, which we can survey and quote for separately.
Will my fuse box need upgrading?
Usually not. Where headroom is tight we fit load management so the charger automatically backs off when the house is busy, avoiding a costly supply upgrade.
How long does it take?
A standard install takes around 3–4 hours. A longer cable route or a board upgrade can add time — we'll always tell you up front.
